Reiss

Purpose

Levels of Care are determined by the information contained on the "Application for LOC Payment" (CRP-001 or 003) and a behavior inventory. For children with an IQ of 70 or above, the CBCL is used as the behavior inventory. For children with an IQ below 70, the Reiss is used as the behavior inventory and is completed every 12 months.

Reiss

The Reiss Scales for Children's Dual Diagnosis measures 20 problem behaviors, such as anger, anxiety, fire setting, etc. It is used for children with mental retardation or developmental disabilities to help document a dual diagnosis involving both MR/DD and emotional or behavioral problems. A narrative report is returned to the person who submitted the Reiss to CRP, which describes the individual's problem behaviors as compared to norms and as how they fit with a DSM-IV diagnosis, when appropriate. The Reiss may also be used by the provider for assessment, treatment planning and outcome measurement.

Protocol

The Reiss is completed by the PCC provider if the child is in a PCC placement, and by the DCBS worker if the child is in a DCBS foster home. The Reiss is not done as part of the initial LOC packet. It is first required after the children have been in their placements and are submitted with the first "Application for LOC Payment" (CRP-001 or 003) and every 12 months after that. The due date should appear on the Monthly Census Report and the "Notice of LOC Payment Authorization" (CRP-002 or 005). If in doubt, call CRP (859-455-7452, ext. 232).
