Dr. David E. Hanna, Bluegrass Chief Clinical Officer, has been named a recipient of the Karl F. Heiser American Psychological Association Presidential Award for Advocacy.  The award will be presented to Dr. Hanna at the 2011 APA Convention in Washington, DC.

This award is named for Karl F. Heiser, the person who succeeded in having the first state statute defining psychology adopted, and honors those psychologists who have given voluntarily of their time to define the discipline of psychology statutorily by state and federal laws and regulations through advocacy.  Advocacy on behalf of psychology is a critical element in the growth and development of the discipline.   Nominations honor those in the forefront of advocacy in states/provinces or APA Practice Division who should receive recognition for their work.

Congratulations to Dr. Hanna on this significant recognition of his many advocacy contributions over the years that have done so much to advance the psychology profession.  His volunteer advocacy activities are truly noteworthy and clearly deserving of this recognition.
