Dr. David E. Hanna,
Bluegrass Chief Clinical Officer, has been named
a recipient of the Karl F. Heiser American
Psychological Association Presidential Award for
Advocacy. The award will be presented to
Dr. Hanna at the 2011 APA Convention in
Washington, DC.
This award is named for
Karl F. Heiser, the person who succeeded in
having the first state statute defining
psychology adopted, and honors those
psychologists who have given voluntarily of
their time to define the discipline of
psychology statutorily by state and federal laws
and regulations through advocacy. Advocacy
on behalf of psychology is a critical element in
the growth and development of the discipline.
Nominations honor those in the forefront of
advocacy in states/provinces or APA Practice
Division who should receive recognition for
their work.
Congratulations to Dr.
Hanna on this significant recognition of his
many advocacy contributions over the years that
have done so much to advance the psychology
profession. His volunteer advocacy
activities are truly noteworthy and clearly
deserving of this recognition.
