Program Overview

The Recovery Mall…….

is an award-winning rehabilitation program designed to help people change, grow and recover from the effects of mental illness and   substance abuse. The mall offers an environment that is as “normal” as possible for a hospital setting.  Mall areas include:

Welcome Center: the mall’s public entrance.  Four interview rooms provide private space for meetings with staff.

Resource Center:  the Library provides books, magazines, newspapers, and music, plus GED and literacy coaching.

Leisure Center: designed to improve social and leisure skills; includes crafts, pool & ping-pong tables, TV area, and board games.  The adjacent courtyard provides outside breaks.  Fitness-oriented activities are in the nearby gymnasium.

The Faye Morton Consumer and Family Center: home of the NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) office & peer support program.  Consumer Leadership Council meetings, mall orientation groups and music groups are here.

Learning Center: the location of most of the educational programming.  The Relaxation Room is available as a place to manage anxiety.

Skills Center: the spot for practical, hands-on skill development, including a model kitchen, bedroom and living area.  The Computer Lab provides internet resources, e-mail and computer training.
