Mission
The Therapeutic Foster Care Program (TFC) is an integral part of the overall mission of the Board. The Board’s mission is to assist individuals and families in the enhancement of their emotional, mental, and physical well-being. The TFC program is a community-based program, family orientated mental health service for children. This program works in partnership with Board programs, parents, and other human services systems in the community and provides a case manager and therapist to meet the needs of the children served.
Goal
The goal of the Therapeutic Foster Care Program is to provide a therapeutic environment for the child in a normalized setting until the child is able to return to his/her family, a less restrictive setting, or is adopted. In this program, family members are considered a part of the treatment team when reunification is the goal. Every effort is made to keep the child’s bond to his/her birth family or guardian strong regardless of the ultimate permanency goal.
