If you have an opioid addiction, you need treatment right away in order to get your life back on track. Opioid addiction treatment requires a combination of counseling and medication assisted treatment (MAT). Your treatment plan will be customized to fit your individual needs.
The first step in opioid addiction treatment is to stop using the opioid. Medical detox may be done gradually, and can take days or weeks, depending on the level of addiction. When you stop taking the opioid, you will experience withdrawal symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, muscle pain and irritability. MAT treatment involves using certain medications to help reduce your symptoms of withdrawal as you overcome your opioid addiction.
Counseling and support groups are also an important part of your opioid addiction treatment. Bluegrass can help with intensive outpatient services and/or our short-term residential treatment facility, the Schwartz Center. Psychological therapy, when combined with medical detox, leads to greater success and less relapse.
