Bluegrass Academy offers a range of classes and learning opportunities for behavioral health professionals. From continuing education courses that meet state licensing board requirements to state approved curriculums for targeted case managers, community support associates and peer support specialists, we offer options to fit your needs and schedule. Ethics for Social Workers

This course focuses on the legal and ethical responsibilities of social workers. Particular focus will be given to the KY SW Code of Ethical Conduct as outlined in 201 KAR 23:080. Informed consent, privileged communication, abuse reporting will be discussed in the context of practicing in a safe and clinically sound manner.

ASAM & Assessment of Risk in Substance Use Population

Thursday, November 16, 2017, Lexington, KY

This session will define and explore application of the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s criteria for assessing Substance Use Disorder risk, treatment needs and appropriate level of care. Overdose risk factors as well as prevention education and up-to-date statistics on overdose prevalence in Kentucky, with a primary focus on opiates and heroin, are all discussed. Proper assessment and intervention to decrease client risk and increase safety will be reviewed as well as documentation of this risk.

Adult Peer Support Specialist Training

Monday, December 11, 2017, Lexington, KY

Bluegrass is approved by the Kentucky Department of Behavioral Health to present Adult Peer Support Specialist Training. This is a 30 hour program offering curriculum required to become a certified KY Adult Peer Support Specialist. All application materials and fees are due by 12/6/17. Limited scholarship opportunities are available. Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk (ASMR) with LPCC Instructor

The AMSR curriculum teaches the core competencies needed to provide an attitude, framework, skill, knowledge set or routine that addresses the dilemmas suicide presents to a clinician. The workshop is designed around the five domains of competency which are outlined. This course is approved for KY LPCCs.
